THE CUBESAT
Our Current Mission
Earth’s atmospheric radio window is the range of radio frequencies that pass through the planet’s atmosphere and can be detected by grounded telescopes.
However, frequencies below 10 MHz can only be observed by orbiting telescopes. This is why ASTER is currently developing a radio telescope (in a CubeSat form factor) containing a 15 -meter dipole antenna that will orbit the Earth.
This is a major steppingstone towards building project OLFAr – our Orbiting Low Frequency Array that will act as a single large radio telescope.
